This is exactly why IBM refuses to open up system symbols to Batch. Why should it be the execution site, I can see reasons for submitting site, or worse, printing site, if different. There are so many 'correct' resolutions for system symbols, that IBM has erred on the side of the 'principle of least astonnishment'.
