No! I tried the stress test: I used the OUTDDNAME(X)
option, where X was allocated to a new member of a PDS
with a pre-existing member and BLKSIZE=27920. TRANSMIT
changed the block size to 3120, and an attempt to copy
the earlier member with IEBGENER now fails with:
IEB351I I/O ERROR ,XMITATTR,STEP ,41C8,D,SYSUT1 ,READ
,WRNG.LEN.RECORD,00000025000B06,BSAM
WAD? N, BAD! It should be APARable behavior when any utility
changes the attributes of an existing data set in such a way as
to make it unreadable.
It's always been that way? I don't care!
It's documented that way? I still don't care!
It's just wrong!
BSAM? I thought IEBGENER used QSAM.
