You cannot share UNIX filesystems (HFS or zFS) in Read-Write mode except within a sysplex with integrity. I know. I've destroyed an HFS by updating it from two systems, not in a sysplex, at the same time. There is a long chapter on how to share UNIX filesystems in a sysplex. If you guarantee that the filesystem will only be mounted R/O to all systems, then you can (but likely should not) share them. But only if all systems are R/O. If you need update, then you need to unmount the filesystem from all systems other than the one you want to do the update. The remount R/O to all systems after the updates are complete. > >We tested z1.9 in both lpars this past weekend, when we ipl'd the 2nd lpar >with z1.9 we noticed the msg below popped up on the other lpar. Thanks Matt Remember how in the past you could "share" a page datasets (did anybody else do this other than me - by accident!). z/OS 1.9 now "protects" you from this situation. As above, sharing is only possible in a sysplex, with all the coupling datasets set up and stuff. > > >Matt Dazzo >Sr. MVS Systems Admin >Publishers Clearing House >516-944-4816 >[email protected] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
