Norbert Sorry about the delay. It was a busy May Day period.
> It WORKS ! with TN3270. I use the Logmode SNX32702 ( RUSIZES=X'87F8' ).So, the SLU can send a maximum of 1024 bytes. But the problem may be related to what the *PLU*, TSO, can send. X'F8' corresponds to 15 x 2*8 = 3840 bytes. Anyhow the fact that this works helps to narrow down the problem configuration. Actually there are two problems here: 1. What we have been discussing. 2. What you really want to do. Concentrating on 2 for a moment: > I will test in the operating environment planned: z/OS 1.10 connected with VSE 4.2. Is your target application TSO? If so, that means the system supporting the secondary logical unit (SLU) is the VSE 4.2. Again, "if so", what equipment will be providing the SLU? If a workstation running a TN3270E client connected through a TN3270E server somewhere in your VSE system is appropriate, your problem (2) is solved. If this is not correct, you'd better explain what it is you really want to do. Of course, I'm intrigued by problem 1. If that is also important/intriguing for you, we are going to need those traces I mentioned. > IF ETHERNET AND APPN AND LU0 ( Local terminal ): The session hang. I think the problem combination may be better described as Ethernet over a type 2.1 connection using LU type 0. If you had unlimited time to check all this, you could run an LU type 0 session over a LEN connection which would require a session initiated by the primary LU. You could use NJE with no CP LU to CP LU sessions - and type 2.1 CDRSC definitions of course - to try this. All this to say that the conditions could empirically be narrowed down to a. 802.2 LLC with Ethernet - definitely b. APPN or LEN - to be decided c. LU type 0 - definitely d. primary LU or secondary LU session initiation - to be decided The reason I add "d" is that there are features of LEN and APPN which can be sensitive to the mode table entry selection in the involved VTAMs and this is affected by the session initiation direction. Actually, logically, until all the "to be decided" are resolved, we can't be absolutely certain over the "definitely"! Now to your second set of questions: > Why works with LU2 and doesn't work with LU0 ? We are going to need your traces before we start on this. > Whats is the size of the transfer in LU0 ? Whatever the PLU and the SLU decide to use. Actually this is always the case - excluding VTAM support for LU type 6.2. In the case where the protocol supports the RU sizes fields, the application *should* respect those fields but no underlying software actually *polices* the limits. > Why is so strange my problem ? Back to the traces. > Nobody uses a Local terminal with APPN - LLC2 - Z/OS ? I detect this may be a question which should have been posed as "Does nobody use a Local terminal with APPN - LLC2 - Z/OS?[1] I'm pretty sure they do but it may be that whenever Ethernet is involved, IP is involved too, once using AnyNet SNA over IP and now Enterprise Extender. > I will make traces with wireshark and look at he packets, and the I will com to you again. I look forward to the reports. Note that you should take a VTAM buffer trace at the same time so that we can see whether or not a request is sent from TSO but does not appear "on the wire". Chris Mason [1] For practice with questions in English, you should visit Northern Ireland, so you should. In Northern Ireland the English interrogative structures are extended to the affirmative!
