Well, the answer to that is to allow dataspaces to be 64-bit as well as 31-bit, 
no? But it would explain why 64-bit common would be easier to implement (versus 
implementing and then using 64-bit data spaces).

Hum, why not allow the 64-bit "common" be actually BE in *MASTER* with a 
dedicated ALET? <shudder>
