John, What is the value of 'DATA SET BACKUP=NOT HELD' when you Q AC? If it is NOT Held then releasing it won't accomplish much. If it is =HELD, then by all means issue the Release commands.

Issue setsys command to set start stop times for automatic backup to 0000, run your test then when ready re-set your backup window.
