Well, then that would explain it. Leads me to ask if there is a way to
supply an ispf environment to the program in batch? Or, have the job run
in a mode other than SHORT_PUTLINE ?

If I'm not mistaken, SHORT_PUTLINE is the default mode when SHOWzOS runs
in TSO/E without ISPF.  In this mode, SHOWMVS clears the screen and only
produces the first two displays (System Level and IPL).
