John, Hopefully they will improve their PDF software. I heard a review on the TWIT "Security Now" podcast where it was panned for the PDF reader, even though they liked the hardware. The reviewer that I heard said that many PDFs they he tried were unreadable. Too bad its not an open Linux distro where you could choose/build/install your own PDF reader. There are several good readers out there.
But I expect that they will improve this - they have to if they want to sell it into the huge university market, where this thing has the potential of doing to textbooks what the IPOD did to CDs :-) Kirk On Mon, Jun 29, 2009 at 12:40 PM, McKown, John <[email protected]>wrote: > > -----Original Message----- > > From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List > > [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Edward Jaffe > > Sent: Monday, June 29, 2009 12:24 PM > > To: [email protected] > > Subject: Re: IBM PDF manuals and the Amazon Kindle DX. > > > > McKown, John wrote: > > > I'm happy to have bought it, but a tad disappointed due to > > the navigation "problem" mentioned above. > > > > > > > Does it have a way to download & install software upgrades? > > If so, that > > usability issue might get cured in a future deliverable... > > > > -- > > Edward E Jaffe > > Supposedly yes.
