Dave,

We are in the process of converting from DB2 to Oracle. I am not directly involved in this but I can pass on what I hear.

It is not a simple migration. Everything has to be rewritten. Thus we have a lot of contractors working on rewriting everything. I have heard comments that there are things that we do in DB2 that Oracle cannot do. I do not know specifics.

Per our DB2 type guy, Oracle is 'very immature'. There are next to no tools like DB2 Tools. and there are no monitoring capabilities.

I do not know what this is costing, but I bet that it is 'big bucks'. Jerry

Besides, I thought Oracle was discontinuing development of its
product for z/OS. What's up with that? No wonder its less expensive.
