Ah!  The hypothetical:

    //SYSIN  DD  *
        MOVE INDD=SYSUT1,OUTDSN=NULLFILE
        COPY INDD=SYSUT1,OUTDD=SYSUT1

command.  Actually MOVE (copy then delete) would be an option
valued by at least the foolhardy.  ISPF provides it.
