To clarify, the SMTP external writer expects an envelope followed by
the contents. The envelope contains commands defined in RFC 5321. The
contents contains a header defined in RFC 5322, a blank line and a
body. The cc: and to: lines in the header allows recipients to see who
else should receive the message, but are not used in the actual
message routing. If the envelope contains a MAIL FROM: with an address
that does not appear in the header, that is known as a blind carbon
copy.
