There was a manager who wanted to eliminate a small support group because 
"That function is totally automated."  8, soon to be 9 plexes; well over 
100 started tasks; no abends;  no changes for changes in opsys.  Totally 
invisible on any report that management gets because noone thinks to count 
the work it does.  It just ships data from hither to yon.  One techie 
analyst who recovers things when an admin makes a mistake on a green 
screen defining routing information.

When you do well, you can be invisible.  To be appreciated, there has to 
be visibility.
