Hi all,
Appologies for posting this here. I tried to post this, twice, on the
IBM-VM list but apart from lot's of jokes about some of the file names used I
never got anyone to attempt an answer my actual questions so I thought I'd try
here.

I have a VM 6.2 level 1101 system that I'm trying to bring up to the current
maint level for a new processor comming in. I havn't done VM maint for over 20
years so I'm trying to be carefull in case I screw up.

I have 5 files, envelopes, I need to apply -

RSU6202 SERVLINK RSU 6202 - 1201

BCK1201D SERVLINK bucket documentation
BCK1201P SERVLINK bucket PTFS

ESODOCS SERVLINK ESO DOCS
ESOPTFS SERVLINK ESO PTFS

I have a few questions.

Q1) The SERVICE EXEC takes multiple envelope filenames to apply service. It
says you do the envelopes one at a time unless the envelopes are part of a
multi-volume set, in which case you must do the set together. Do the two PSP
bucket documents constitute a multi-volume set. Similarrly the ESO docs & PTFs
I.e. do I do the two PSP envelopes together or as two seperate runs of the
service exec?

Q2) The example in the manual shows one execution of the SERVICE EXEC followed
by one execution of PUT2PROD. Do I have to run PUT2PROD after each invocation
of SERVICE or can apply all 5 envelopes and then do PUT2PROD once? I hope it's
the latter as othwerwise this is going to take ages doing the CP & CMS testing
prior to each PUT2PROD.

Q3) Am I correct in thinking no production files are updated until PUT2PROD is
done? I.e. I can do all the SERVICE stuff during business hours and only need
downtime for the pre-PUT2PROD IPL & testing and the final IPL.

Ron.
