The following scenario
An LPAR with z/OS.
The z/OS is shut down (Z EOD).
After that, a LOAD is performed. (Load icon dropped on LPAR icon)
LOAD FAILED with the following message:
"Status: Failed; details are available (red text in the HMC window)"
Click on Details button and get the following message:
"The load failed. Display the Hardware Messages for the CPC to see
detailed failure messages."
And there is NO HARDWARE MESSAGE. I've been waiting for the message, but
nothing appeared.
Further tests:
Reset Normal performed after "Z EOD" => Load success
Reset Clear performed after "Z EOD" => Load failure as above
(case described above) no reset performed after "Z EOD" => Load failure
Reset Clear then Reset Normal => Load failure
LPAR Activate => Load success.
System is IPLed to the moment "IEA101A Specify system parameters", then
further Load works OK. Even with Reset Normal before Load.
Notes:
- z/OS level is IMHO irrelevant - even IPL text is not read. You can try
to IPL from disk without IPL text - same effect.
- this is behavior of one of 10 LPARs. There is nothing special in this
LPAR setup. Nothing unique, except LPAR id and crypto domain ID.
- We tried switch-attached DASD and directly-attached one. No change.
Any clue?
