You can share them R/O between any environments and across sysplex boundaries (although not officially supported to share anything HFS - or PDSE - outside sysplex boundaries). Within a sysplex you can share Read/Write if you set up sysplex sharing of file system (see the Unix planning manual). I was sharing "Sysres" HFS R/O file systems for years on my sysres set between several sysplexes with multiple LPARs and some monoplex LPARs as well (up to 14 at a time depending on sysres rolls). They are all zFS now, but I still do.
