ASM will run one output channel program to each page data set. How much actual thoughput you can get to a single DS8800 box with 12 Ficon channels, I don't know. You would need to measure your environment. ASM has not been enhanced to exploit zHPF, so it it not a particularly good citizen from a Ficon channel's point of view.
