Is the application IPv6 aware?  Is it possibly copying IPv6 hostent values 
(longer) to IPv4 sockaddr structures (shorter)?

There is supposed to be a way for IPv4 clients to use IPv6 but I have not 
reviewed the manuals for awhile.
