Phil's knowledge of the business was remarkable. I found it a bit surprising that he came down on the Hercules community so hard, considering the grey paths that some of his own IBM information must have passed through. He was on a short list of people I'd go out of my way to see if I found myself in his part of the world, for the pleasure of sharing a pint and a story.
