Went to first SHARE in '81. Met Arnie, Steve Smith, and Bruce Leland among others. Took a long time to get PDS command in the door past the software sentries. Anyway, moved back to UA in '86 with only partial SHARE support and many years of proration. The CBT tape was a fiscal life saver. Along with VMSHARE and HESC we were able to provide a robust set of options and solutions. As charter members of bitnet several lists were started in '86 most noticeably for ibm-main, pmail and Candle. At that time listserv ran under VM and Darren got nominated. Candle's list didn't last long and was flicked out after a few years. Don't know if pMail survived the conversions or no. Ibm-main has had intermittent support and participation. It has survived conversions and budget cuts. As more developers and techies picked up and got connected it has remained chatty but useful tool of the trade. Now what Maple syrup has to do with z/OS escapes me but I'm only on my first cup of coffee.... In a message dated 12/27/2012 1:18:46 A.M. Central Standard Time, [email protected] writes:
I made the first cut in October 1990 (Version 322). So I have had it for 22 years, so far. Sam Knutson started the web site in October 1998. NaSPA was duplicating the tapes for us, until then. That's where it's at, thank God. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
