Remind me - are the names predefined? I think the spool data sets are required 
to be named something. I seem to remember that checkpoint data sets don't 
really have that restriction, so they could have a different name on each 
system. Also, I seem to remember that the checkpoint is always serialized via 
RESERVE. 
What might throw a wrench into changing the GRS settings on the checkpoint data 
sets is that I don't have even a glimmer of a memory if JES is using a 
configurable XCF group for communication (and I am too lazy to read up on 
this). If you can separate these XCF groups and the checkpoint names, I don't 
see any reason not to change the RNLS, as then JES shouldn't have any reason to 
even be aware that there is another JES on another system.
