After reading it several times, my impression is that the 'volumes specified by the caller' are the volume the catalog resides on now. Apparently the catalog is deleted and defined and thereby given the 'guaranteed space attribute'. Can it be that the ACS routines direct the new catalog to an SG that is different from the 'volumes' of the current catalog? Maybe non-sms vs. sms managed?
