I think the OP has resolved his problem by using Win 7 XP Mode. But there is another option, if XPMode is unavailable. If you can convince management to leave one old XP machine powered up on the LAN, you could use Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) to access that machine and run any old XP apps.
Lastly, why hasn't someone reengineered DASDCALC into a web application that we could all access with our internet browsers? Maybe this is a small challenge for someone on the list?
