Only possible if they'd done $PJES2,ABEND - JES2 won't shut otherwise with active non-mstr STCs. I think that a write to SYSOUT is still possible with JES down, so long as you don't need to allocate a new track group. GRS ring disruption isn't a pretty thing (sigh, we're still on ring).
