Forty years or whatever and MVS still holds surprises for us! I guess that's what makes it still fun after all these years.
I did this in another situation: did a TON of stuff in an ESTAEX exit. Yes, you are on life support, there is no getting away from that, and any ABEND is fatal (well, I read something today about a "Nested ESTAE" but without that, any ABEND is fatal) but you can do a ton of stuff before you die.
