Headquarters normally did our MVT sysgens for us so this was the first
MVT sysgen I had done. After checking with Paul Dalman of Army
Records, Rick Steffee of Naval Intelligence and Brian Scott of Volume
Shoe, all of who had presented at a SHARE session on the topic, I
genned 21.8 final as for a 370/158. We had lost our mod 65 due to a
roof leak on Sunday so I made the phone calls on Monday just in case.
Monday IBM was going to fix it. Tuesday was a different story and we
got the system up by Wednesday morning. My boss and a fellow systems
programmer had to learn about Unit Control Words so we could use our
Comten. All in all an interesting time.
