Peter,

We are running NVAS 2.1, but it has been a LONG time since we implemented it
and I don't remember all of the details.

Here is link to the manuals if you don't have it already:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/tividd/td/NetViewAccessServices2.1.html

IIRC there are 2 exits provided by IBM. One is the Logon Exit will interacts
with RACF to allow NVAS to use RACF for user validation. If you don't specify
a group name on the NVAS logon it will use your default group and match that to
your NVAS group.

All of our groups are either Public (normal users) or External (security admins
and sysprogs). I think the difference between public and members of external
groups can customize certain NVAS settings (order of applications on their
menu, jump keys, ect. ) and public groups just use what is defined for them by
the NVAS admins.

The other is a administration exit. I don't think this one is required but it
allows you to keep NVAS related setting in RACF and mange them from NVAS.
However, IIRC this requires whomever is administrating NVAS to have the
appropriate RACF security levels. That is, if they are administrating groups,
they have to group special for those groups in RACF, if they are administrating
the NVAS system they need RACF special. For some reason I don't think we are
using the one from IBM.

This information is is the Customization Manual.
