At a SHARE meeting (where I believe I met you), John E. (FSVO "E") practically
boasted that unlike Linkage Editor for which data specifications were open,
Binder's were closed,  saving IBM much anguish.

The issue: programmers, especially ISVs coded to the Doc; did things that no
IBM product did, and IBM never tested; and opened SRs when they didn't
work as documented.  I imagine many APARs were closed PRS.

IBM can say, "We never said that would work."  But if you stayed within the
boundaries of what IBM says would work, you wouldn't get much done.
