At a SHARE meeting (where I believe I met you), John E. (FSVO "E") practically boasted that unlike Linkage Editor for which data specifications were open, Binder's were closed, saving IBM much anguish. The issue: programmers, especially ISVs coded to the Doc; did things that no IBM product did, and IBM never tested; and opened SRs when they didn't work as documented. I imagine many APARs were closed PRS. IBM can say, "We never said that would work."
