And I am getting contention messages MIM1039I I was always under the impression That if the dataset was allocated with disp=shr </snip> I have to believe that MIM would not issue a contention message if all the allocations were disp=shr. If all the allocations were disp=shr then something else "upgraded" at least one to disp=old, or a new request is for disp=old. But you did not provide the text of the message you received which would have identified which of those two cases it was. Otherwise not all the allocations were disp=shr.
