Here's a life hack for people who are open to it -

Get a gaming mouse like this one

 ..

.. and map the 2 pairs of up/down buttons to navigate back/forward and vol 
up/down respectively.
And the button on the side for mute. Extremely handy these days.

Or map it however you like basically.
