The author cited GDDM manuals rather than 3179G manuals or the 3270 data streams manual.

I read the section on the 3179-G - the author was not very complimentary about the device or the available documentation about it. Given his comparison to other graphics devices (DEC, Tektronics, etc.) I'm inclined to agree.
