Hi, I explored this option at my workplace and studied this option with all the advantages/disadvantages: - In my opinion, using this option could create some issues in your environment if you are backing up huge amount of USS Data. Here's a section where I had concerns and I backed off because we cannot have issues with our Production BCDS getting full occasionally and impacting HSM. I would recommend that you look at the Pro's and Con's for your environment: Here's the section and please read the section from the previous Link Max added: 3.1.1 Backup control data set size The BCDS must be large enough to contain the maximum number of records for all the data sets, UNIX files, and volumes that have been backed up.
I started to use another non-IBM Product to backup USS Environment and so far I have been very happy but still doing Testing and self learning.
