We have seen results all over the map! One customer recompiled an application and found it to run 70% faster! Seventy percent! Others get 5% - 40% improvement. With very small programs the benefit it minimal, some CICS customers do not see much improvement. One CICS customer in Chicago told us they got over 50% improvmenet in throughput with COBOL V6, they could change their business processes to handle more claims! In general, customers compile a program once or three times, then put it into production and run it thousands or millions of times, so the payback is definitely there in overal CPU savings!
