Well, you need to look at hardware life too. We had a PC running Win NT 4.0 SP6 to configure and monitor IBM ESS F20 (shark) storage and the tin can capacitors leaked and had to be replaced. So anything over 10 years old needs to be replaced for CMOS battery / Capacitor life anyway.
