As far as I know, XCFAS would not allocate any data set other than what XCF itself needs (perhaps some sort of couple data set) and data sets in the LNKLST. If your data set is not in either of those categories, I cannot help.
If there is no active LNKLST data set with the data set in question, there would not be a LNKLST allocation. And if there were such an allocation, LNKLST UNALLOCATE would un-do it. It was mentioned that the data set was allocated in the wrong catalog. It is certainly expected that there be only one catalog entry for a cataloged data set, and other uses of the same name must be uncataloged. I have no idea what happens when user catalogs are involved, more than one of which might have the same named data set but on different volumes. I don't know on your system what catalog would be in effect within XCFAS and within LLA.
