I was looking at some old upgrade doc, while ftp was there in z/os 1.4
the customer I was working with had another vendors tcpip product as the
primary I/P tool, I'm not 100% about ftp to jes2 since I never tried it
till very late in the game but if you need some examples I can share

Probably a good idea.
IIRC, FTP came late to OMVS. For several releases it existed only as a TSO
or Batch command. But 1.4 is probably OK.
