I tried it. I created all sorts of data set names, DISP=(,KEEP), containing blanks, binary zeroes, lower case, no periods, ... I left them, trusting that tramp data sets were periodically scratched. But a few days later, irate admins swarmed on me, complaining that my data set names crashed their scratch process.
