Hi Billy,
We do have a new DFSMS utility called GDKUTIL that I shipped PTFs for
last month in OA62318. It is a JCL utility that can download Cloud Objects from
an S3 Cloud Object Store, or upload z/OS sequential data to an S3 Cloud Object
Store like AWS or IBM Cloud (or any on-prem Cloud Object Store that uses the S3
API). I've got a writeup of the doc changes on the IBM ftp site with the link
to the doc in the APAR closing text (which you can see at:
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/OA62318 )
I expect you would want more security than having files on an open web
server. Also, that doesn't really help when you want to upload something to
that web server. If you have things in a Cloud Object Storage bucket, you can
control the access to the objects so that some only those you want can
upload/download objects.
Sincerely,
Andrew Wilt

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Is there such a thing as JCL to transfer files using https?
Hi everyone! You have been so helpful in the past to help me with getting my
file transfers working with sftp, and now, we have a manager who wants to
explore using https in batch like we do online in our browsers. He thinks we
can secure our ports better if we are not using as many. We would be using it
to move files back and forth with a couple of our major business partners.
Is such a thing possible? What do I need to think about if this is possible?
Does anyone have any sample JCL they have used and would be able to share with
me?
I have tried to research this, but really haven't found anything useful (I
guess this should be a clue).
Thank you and best regards,
Billy Ashton
