Peter, What version of z/OS are you running? How are you accessing the SYSLOG? SDSF LOG? Or some other function If under SDSF in TSO when was the last time you logged off/on?
Can the error be recreated? Were you using ULOG or some other function when it abended? I would try logging off then back on, and immediately try the process again. If that fails, find another person that can do what you do and have them try it. You need to see if it is unique to you or a more common error.
