Filezilla accepts two formats for the initial "directory" you wish to view, one
in the normal Unix format for Unix System Services files (e.g., /u/tsouser or
/usr/etc) and normal MVS DSN format (with a period at the end like
TSOUSER.MYDATA.) to denote an HLQ to view in the MVS data space.

Works like a charm, no issues once you have solved the connectivity conundrums,
though I must admit I only ever did transfers to and from existing files or
PDS/E's, I never tried to create an MVS file from the other side. There might
even be parameters somewhere in FIlezilla to handle that, but I never looked
for them as I did not need them.

Was the "Unix" host actually z/OS UNIX System Services?

Why should two (virtual) hosts be necessary? Doesn't the z/OS FTP server
recognize from the argument of the CWD command whether you are accessing a UNIX
or DSN filesystem?

But are there possibly ambiguous directory names?

Does either the Filezilla client or the z/OS server respect the "//" prefix as
indicating a DSN?

DSFS can only make it worse.
