compression. All it does is rearrange the physical location of members
so as to eliminate the holes (foam? gas?) that has arisen between them.
Historically, we have called that "compression", but in this day and
age continuing to call it that no longer is an option.
Has anyone come up with a better term that I missed while not looking?
