z/OS 1.4 - last system with so called bimodal accomodation - a right to run in 31-bit mode on 64-bit machine.
z/OS 1.5 - last system able to run on 31-bit machine.
z14 - first machine which disabled ESA/390 mode for IPL. z/OS 1.13 was the first which run on z14.

Of course this is a little bit off-topic, since the original question was about VSE 6.3  :-) To complement, z/VSE 6.2 supported up to 10 CPs, but used only up to 4 CPs. That means it will not run on 11+ CPs LPAR, but on i.e. 8-CP LPAR it will run and use max. 4 CPs. Up to 32GB of memory, however you could assign more to the LPAR. The rest will be unusable.

I get the understanding that it and the current release of z/VSE
from IBM are effectively the same (kinda like OS/390 V2.10 and
