Linda, thanks for the prompt and concise reply. Two follow-up questions: 1. Is it IBM's intent to at some point ship XLC V2.4.1 (and successor versions) as the default and only C/C++ compiler system? Or: 2. Is this product intended to be a completely separate and independent product from the XL V2.4 compiler available to JCL-only shops, with continued development/bugfixes/etc. applied to each version separately and independently?

The XL V2.4.1 compiler can run on z/OS V2.4 or z/OS V2.5. It is a compiler designed to help port applications over to z/OS from other platforms. For C (or C++) developers in a JCL only environment, they can continue to use the XL V2.4 compiler. Hope this helps.
