I know what it does; I'm just not convinced that it was appropriate. Yes, DCBDDNAM is repurposed; no information is lost because of DCBTIOT (this was before XTIOT.)

The DDNAME is unnessary after OPEN unless something goes wrong. But the original DCB is restored by CLOSE.
