But in UNIX jargon a "link" is an ordinary directory entry identifying a file by its I-number. There may be multiple such links for a single file. In contrast to PDSE these are equipotent: there is no primary name with the others being "aliases". Unlike PDSE, these may reside in different directories, but only in the same filesystem (like "volume".)
