This site has a little single CPU z13s (88Mip, 10MSU), with not zIIP
processors.

There seems to be no reason for the increase that I can see, beyond just plain
old greed.

I also don't think people (vendors) should assume that it's a mainframe so the
site can throw money around and spend like drunken sailors. We don't price
our software sky high and we would never even consider an increase the price
like that. The idea is to license your software to as many sites as can
effectively use it, not to give a low price for a couple years and then yank
the rug out from under the customer.

I realize that they may be getting fewer and fewer customers, but you would
think that the solution is to beef up the product and make more people want it,
not increase the price to try to keep your profit margins the same and offering
nothing in return beyond what the site already has.

These are just my own opinions. I don't want to start a argument over vendor
pricing methods, I just personally feel that you can offer a good product at a
reasonable price and keep both the customer and the software vendor happy.
