Check the MGMTCLAS for the dataset (if you can find some records). I believe you will find one or more 9999 for expired backup versions, dataset last reference,..... What has happened is that the dataset/backup version has exceeded 9999 days since last reference. Not sure how you would test this, but perhaps changing 9999 to null will resolve this issue.
