Dear Folks,

This is a way for z/OS sysprogs to expand their capabilities quickly.

The idea was implemented many years ago, but it ought to be brought to people's attention.

WE HAVE HELP MEMBERS for some of the time-saving free tools that people can use.  They are in CBT Tape File 874.  The idea is:  If you want to expand your tool collection (and your horizons) quickly, then look at CBT File 874 (Updates page of www.cbttape.org) and look at the HELP members there.  Then you can quickly decide if you would need a tool, and then you can go to the appropriate CBT Tape File (Updates page first) and install it for yourself (and maybe for your company too).  This can help you get your tasks done faster, and save your company (a lot of) time and money.

By looking at the HELP members, you can see what each tool can do.  Then you can decide if it'll be useful to have.

It's a start. File 874 certainly does not cover the entire CBT Tape collection of tools.  It is also not completely up-to-date as to the latest version levels.  BUT IT GIVES YOU A GREAT IDEA FOR STARTING TO SAVE TIME.  It's a good place to look.

Just an idea.  I wish that I had this opportunity when I started my own career.

    Go to it.  Good luck.

All the best of everything to all of you.

Sincerely,    Sam
