Almost universal, however is "application paranoia". The fear that there is something somewhere dependent on the local timestamp and *might* break something. If it went down for more than X amount of time (I think it was 15 minutes or an hour?), we were fined by the fed 10K ($ ?). Everyone, including the management, did not want to touch it. We were stuck with this, yet we had to keep the OS current. How do you want to call IBM on an unsupported version of CICS?
