To use the volumes as minidisks, you have to attach them to the system. You can use the real addresses, or the volser:
'CP ATTACH VOLID UV9000 TO SYSTEM' There is probably somewhere (I think mine is in AUTOLOG1's PROFILE EXEC) that does that for the volumes that work. Specifying "RR" in the MDISK statement in the directory is not required. VM will issue virtual reserve-release on the volumes if you specify MWV: 'MDISK AB1 3390 000 END MACK01 MWV...' If you have a sysplex, the rules might be different. I'm a little fuzzy about who does the enqueues then.
