I looked at the left hand menu but there are no 3 dots instead of the dots I
have COMPOSE instead followed by Inbox, Unread, Starred, Drafts, Sent,
Archive, Spam, Trash etc. etc.

mail page, on the left hand menu you should see 3 dots under where it says
"Inbox, Started, Sent ...etc."
Click on the 3 dots, then click on settings. Should be on "personalize Inbox"
to start with, then just click toggle switch for "inbox categories". Noiw you
should see the sort options I talked about.
